Ph.D. in economics and alumnus of the Institut d’Etudes Politiques de Paris (IEP). Previous positions include: editor-in-chief, Economic Department Combat; head of the Forecasting Department of the French Ministry of Economics and Finance. Has also led research studies for the Ministry of Research and the Ministry of Industry and taught political economy at Sciences Po between 1976 and 1996. Author of eight books and regular contributor for Le Figaro and Libération.
In addition to his research on the relationships between religion, culture and development, his work focuses on the foundations of and the factors undermining social cohesion in Norway and Sweden. Participates in the CERI Transversal Project “Migrations and International Relations.”
