Ph.D. in anthropology from Ecole des Hautes Etudes en Sciences Sociales (EHESS, 1989). Member of the editorial boards of Iranian Studies and Revue des mondes musulmans et de la Méditerranée. Her research focuses on political anthropology of Iranian society and is part of the CERI Transversal Project: "Historical Trajectories of the State".
